Master - apprentice trajectory:

restorer of antique horse-drawn carriages

Sven Gatz, former minister of culture in Flanders, launched a second call in early 2019 to apply for scholarships to pass on craftsmanship. Craftsmanship is seen as a form of intangible cultural heritage that is in the minds and hands of people: knowledge and skills with roots in tradition.

Passing on this kind of craftsmanship, often an intensive and time-consuming process, is a prerequisite for keeping it alive. That is why Minister Gatz wants to give the necessary support to professionals who apprentice someone for 2 years and teach him or her the tricks of the trade. Through this intense collaboration, craftsmanship can be passed on and it is not lost.

André thought it was a good idea to pass on the knowledge he had built up over the years to a successor.
Because his son Brecht had already shown a lot of interest in the 'antique carriage' in recent years, they decided together to apply for this grant.
